NetStumbler Converter
This application is used to convert the output of NetStumbler to a useable file format (TSV) for universal access for GIS applications, such as ArcGIS, MapPoint?, etc. It also includes the ability to generate a JavaScript? file that can be used to import a mass amount of points of the networks found to a Google Map. The output can then be imported into spredsheets too for analysis on the data. Such findings include wireless network market share (the convert matches MAC ids with manufacturers) statistics, open-vs-secure network statistics, geographical longitude/latitudinal statistics, and more fun stuff.
Real-Life Example
I drove with my XPS laptop across every street in the City of Franklin, Wisconsin USA, and indexed all the wireless networks accessible from public roadways. You can see the results here:
